| 夏らしい街並みを描きたいと思い、浮かんだのがマイアミビーチあたりのアールデコ。1930年代、大恐慌のただ中に生まれてきたトロピカル・デコは沖縄のコンクリート建築にも共通するものがある。アールデコをなぞらえつつも華美にならないデザイン、控えめなレリーフやパステルカラーのペイント。不況時代の様々な工夫が、かえって人の暮らしを溌剌と明るいものに導いていったのではないかと思う。街づくりには建物のデザインと色の統一感、そして特徴ある街路樹がまずはスタート地点と言えるかもしれない。 | |
| When I first wanted to draw some kind of colorful town,"Miami Beach"occurred to me.The southern part of the beautiful island of Miami beach,there seen the ice-cream colored buildings and the palm trees spread along the beach.Those hotels,apartments were built in 1930~1940,mid of the depression years called"Tropical Deco".It is designated as a National Historical Site and a shining example of the Town-Planning. |
